Are you still looking for a school place for current school year?

Many schools are already full, so arrange your spot asap. In most cases, you don’t need to have an address or BSN-number to apply for a school in the Netherlands (eventually, the school will need these details, but usually not from the very beginning).

If you cannot make the beginning of the school year, it is also ok for your child(ren) to start later – of course after discussing with the school. Also keep in mind that, from age 5, children are obliged to go to school.

Hi, I’m Annebet van Mameren

My mission is to help families navigate the Netherlands with confidence. It started early, meeting people from all over the world while my mom taught them Dutch as a second language.

Later on, I wrote a thesis on intercultural conflicts at work. Marrying an American and bringing up 2 bilingual kids solidified my involvement in the international community.

Today I specialise in navigating the Dutch education system, an essential part of settling in for internationals. I also run Guide2nl, bringing my clients a unique partner network that can cover every aspect of turning the Netherlands into ‘home’
